Mid Suffolk Cosy Homes – Delivered by Aran
Aran is pleased to be the nominated installer and contractor for the Cosy Homes Initiative in Mid Suffolk. This initiative is designed to make private sector homes across the district:
- Warmer
- More economical to heat
- More environmentally friendly
Through fully funded energy efficiency improvements, eligible households can reduce energy usage, lower bills and cut their carbon footprint, with professional support from our experienced retrofit team.
The Cosy Homes Initiative is available to homeowners, private tenants and landlords with fewer than five properties in Mid Suffolk.

What Does The Initiative Offer?
Eligible households will receive:
- A Free Retrofit Assessment: Our qualified assessors will carry out a comprehensive survey of your property to determine which energy efficiency measures are suitable, whether any remedial works are required and the most effective way to improve your home’s EPC rating
- Fully Funded Installation (Up to £10,000): Funding covers the installation of recommended measures and any necessary remedial works.
Energy efficiency improvements may include:
- Loft insulation
- Cavity wall insulation
- Mechanical ventilation
- Solar PV panels*
Following installation, we will provide you with a new EPC certificate for your property.
*Solar PV panels can only be installed once insulation and ventilation measures are in place. Your retrofit assessment will confirm suitability and whether existing insulation levels meet requirements.
Eligibility and How It Works
The Cosy Homes Initiative is available to Mid Suffolk homeowners, private tenants and landlords (with fewer than five properties in the district).
To qualify, you'll need to have:
- A household income below £80,000 per year
- Savings below £40,000 (total household income assessed)
- Property EPC rating of D or below
- Council Tax band A - E
As the appointed contractor, Aran manages the full retrofit journey, from initial survey to installation and certification.
Once your application is approved, a referral is made to Aran and we will contact you to arrange your free retrofit assessment. A quotation is then prepared outlining the recommended measures.
We prioritise the most effective improvements to maximise comfort, efficiency and long-term savings, keeping you informed throughout. In most cases, the process from approval to completion takes up to three months.
How To Apply

Applications are made online via the Cosy Homes scheme. Before applying, please have ready:
- Your council Tax band details
- Your home's EPC rating (you can find this out here: Find an energy certificate - GOV.UK)
- Bank statements and payslips from the past three months
- Your landlord's permission (if applicable)
